A Special Scientific Session for Researchers on \u201cSimulation and Modeling of Thermal Damage Patterns and Thermal Distribution in Photothermal Mechanisms of Medical Lasers\u201d<\/strong> was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 (26 Shahrivar 1404)<\/strong> at the Yara Research Institute of Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

In this session, Dr. Afshan Shirkond<\/strong>, faculty member and head of the Photodynamic Research Group, after reviewing the background of the topic, stated: \u201cModeling in medical lasers, particularly in photothermal mechanisms, is highly important due to its relation to treatment safety, efficiency, and precision.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\r\n

She further emphasized that the key applications and practical aspects of modeling and simulation include predicting treatment safety, optimizing laser parameters, understanding biophysical mechanisms, assisting in the design of novel technologies, reducing experimental costs and time, as well as contributing to treatment standardization and personalization.<\/p>\r\n

Since light absorption in tissues leads to heat generation and an increase in biological tissue temperature, this rise over a specific period can result in irreversible side effects. Through thermal modeling, it is possible to estimate burn-induced injuries and define the permissible damage threshold at the precise boundary of the coagulation or ablation zone, thereby preventing harm to nerves, vessels, or vital organs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
